River Boating

If a river runs through it, then my boat can too.

Looks like they have backed off the 25 foot crest by sunday in Grafton and now is only suppose to reach 23ft, so that's good news, flood stage is Grafton is 18feet. The Public Ramp in Grafton was blocked last night by a huge tree so no putting in there unless someone removes it and the river was lapping at the front of the parking lot.

Looks like Alton isn't goiing to crest until Friday June 13 at 27 feet, predicted to be at 24 feet this sunday which is only 3 feet over flood stage, alton flood satge is 21 feet.

Did anyone get out on the river today? We went to carlyle thinking that we could at least get a little boating in untill the river settles down a bit. BIG Mistake!!!! It was so windy and2-3foot swells. managed to make into the cove and enjoyed the sun, but the boat ride there and back was crazy.

Is Port Charles ramp open at the current river levels?? Looking to find a place to put in and putt over to mason chute. and enjoy the sun and water again.

We know exactly what you are saying! Carlyle is nuts with any kind of North or South wind. We recently up graded our boat and this morning was talking about going there to test her out. :-P What size boat do you have? The Kaskaskia (sp) River is always a great alternative when the wind is blowing.

Looks like it will be awhile before we are putting in. But on a side note, when the Mississippi is up it makes for some great boating on the Meramec River. But do not tell anyone! ;-) Hope to be back on the Alton Pool soon, thanks for the updates.

Word is out on the Meramec. Yesterday the line for the ramp was LONG at George Winter Park. But worth the wait! I'm going back next weekend.

oh DAMN!!! :-P

Were you out there Sunday? The river was muddy, but the pool was really nice!

I just wish George Winter had some docks. What can you do.

Maybe we will see you out there next weekend.

Does anyone by any chance know if the public ramps in the Dardenne Slough are open and if it's ok to go out?

I would venture to say no to both questions.

Between the crAAp floating and current, it sets up for a very dangerous day of boating.

Lakes are the way to go for a few weeks IMHO.

So what is the best suggestion if you want to get a boat into the water. I heard several people say Mark Twain Lake? Does anyone know the outlook for the Meramec this weekend?

I was up at Mark Twain last Saturday, was a good time and wasn't super busy. The only down side is that it's 100 miles away. Not sure about the Meramec, I'm gonna check it out and if it is decent, I'll be out there this weekend sometime...but I'm afraid it's gonna be too high. I heard that the ramps were closed last weekend but I didn't see it for myself.

The levee breaks are taking the pressure off. Both the Corp and NOAA just dropped the Winfield crest 2/5 feet now to 36.8 on the 24th!!!
